Meet Dr. Patel– Robotic-Assisted Replacement Specialist
Dr. Anay R.Patel, MD is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in anterior hip and robotic knee replacement . He provides expert care to his patients by using the latest advanced treatments and minimally invasive techniques to speed recovery and return patients to their active lifestyles.
Dr. Patel was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. His father, a respected cardiologist, was his main source of inspiration to work hard and pursue a career in the service of others. Dr. Patel graduated from Duke University in 2005 and then graduated Cum Laude from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in 2009. While at Ohio State he was awarded numerous scholarships and awards including being inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society for academic Achievement. Dr. Patel completed his residency at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. It was there that Dr. Patel worked with pioneers of compater-navigated joint replacement and fostered an interest in joint replacement. Dr. Patel then advanced on to a fellowship in hip and reconstruction and joint replacement at the prestigious Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. While there Dr. Patel learned the most modern and cutting-edge techniques in joint replacement including robotic surgery, computer navigation, and rapid recovery protocols for hip and knee replacement from the best surgeons in the world.
Dr. Patel joined Texas Orthopedic Hospital and Fondren Orthopedic Group in 2015. He continues to contribute to the medical literature on the treatments and complications of hip and knee replacements. He is currently a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. He instructs trainees and fellow surgeons at Texas Orthopedic Hospital and at a variety of courses throughout the country. He is also a leader in the field of Hip/Spine analysis for computer-assisted anterior hip replacement and patient-specific balancing in robotic total knee replacement.
Dr. Patel welcomes patients with hip and knee pain at The Fondren Orthopedic Group and Texas Orthopedic Hospital, located in the heart of Houston just south of the Texas Medical Center. He also sees patients in Kingwood. Dr. Patel welcomes patients who have complex issues such as infections, loose implants, or prior joint replacements that have had disappointing results. His objective is to provide patients with a comfortable environment in which to discuss their hip and knee issues. Dr. Patel provides personalized care to his patients so they can understand their problems, consider their options, and then work together to pick the right solution.
